The Histopathological Study on the Influence of Various Ssimuli at the Lateral Vaginal Fornix upon the Internal Reproductive Organs in Rabbits

Abstract
Stimuli to the autonomic nervous plexus may result not only in local histopathological reactions but in some characteristic changes on the other organs including distant ones. These are generally known as Reilly¢¥ s phenomenon.
The author investigated the histopathological changes of the internal reproductive organs after giving several different types of stimuli on the right lateral vaginal fornix of normal healthy adult female rabbits.
The stimuli given were as follows:
1. Control group: 0. 5cc of 0. 9% saline solution was injected to the right lateral vaginal vault.
2. Procaine group: 0. 5cc of 1. 0% procaine hydrochloride solution was given to the same site as above.
3. Cryosurgery group: the same site was frozen up to -90¡ÆC for 10 seconds with cryosurgery unit.
4. Electro:autery group: the same site was electrocauterized for 10 seconds.
Experimental animals were sacrificed immediately and 30 minutes, 1 hour and 3 hours respectively after stimulation, and then specimens for microscopic examinatiri ware obtained from both ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterine cornua as well as uterine bo!i-s, and stained with hematoxylin-eosin solution.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. The severity of the histopatho¢¥ogical changes of the internal reproductive organs observed differs according to the stimuli given but the cha:a=ter of tissue changes was essentially same in all groups regardless of the kinds of stimuli.
2. Amo ig the stimuli carried out, the most striking changes ware observed in the electrocautery group and the least changes in the control group.
3. As far as the histopathological changes are concerned, the most remarkable and constant finding was capillary congestion while the edema of the pericacillary tissue comes next. Swelling of the connective tissue fibers and cloudy swelling of the lining epithelial cells were occasional and rather late findings.
4. In comparison of the right and the left side of the organs, it was obvious that more significant changes were observed in the tissues obtained from the side stimulated.
5. Histopathological changes s-emed to start to be recovered within three hours.
